What You’ll Need To Now About Equipment / Tools
- Pot
- Hot plate or electric stove
Materials
- Wax
- Wick
- Container
- Fragrance (optional)
- Color (optional)
- Skewers or Popsicle sticks
Instructions
Place the Wick: Place your wick in the right vase before pouring the wax. We like to reuse an empty candle container that has already been used—both it’s environmentally and financially friendly!
Heat the Wax:Â Place the pot over a hot plate or an electric stove to keep it warm. Allow the wax to melt before adding it. If desired, add your color and aroma to the melted wax in the pot.
Transfer the Wax: Pour the heated wax into the container with care. To keep the wick in place, use skewers or popsicle sticks. Allow the wax to cool completely before trimming the wick to fit.
Remove the wax from the mold and trim the wick down to ¼ inch (0.64 centimeters). A longer wick will cause the flame to be too huge, thus this will help confine it.
Light the wick, burn your candle and enjoy your masterpiece.
Colorful candles: Add chopped up crayons into your melting wax during step two. You will need 12 to 15 crayons for each candle. Choose crayons in the same color family to create the prettiest hue!
Buried treasure candles: Find a small, inexpensive treasure (think a small toy, ring or necklace) and place it in the container before you pour the wax in step five. Pour wax on top to bury the treasure. If you want to be able to see the treasure inside the candle, you can use a gel wax instead. X marks the spot!
